Game Description :Rochard follows the story of the humble astro-miner John Rochard. John and his mining team accidently discover an ancient structure hidden deep in an asteroid, thus proving mankind isn’t alone in the universe. Soon after, his team goes missing without a trace and John finds himself stranded on the asteroid. To make matters worse, space pirates attack the mine, and John quickly realizes there are surprising and dangerous forces at work, determined to use the mysterious discovery for their own sinister means and eliminate John and his friends along the way. Using only his wits, everyday mining tools and a healthy dose of sarcasm, John must fend off the pirates, save his team and solve the mystery behind his discovery.
The game tests players’ coordination and wits as they use gravity to their advantage, changing it at will to solve environmental puzzles and advance through each level. By using the upgradable G-Lifter, the main tool of the game, players can lift and maneuver heavy objects around the environment, and can eventually swing, jump and propel themselves huge distances throughout each level.

IGN Article :Following in the footsteps of Shadow Complex, Rochard is an adventure/puzzle platformer that seeks to take some old ideas and use them in a new way. I recently had a chance to demo the first 20 minutes of the game, which is set to release on the PlayStation Network this spring, and was quite pleased with what I saw.
Much like Shadow Complex, Rochard clearly takes some pages out of Metroid’s book, using the same side-scrolling action platforming system perfected in Metroid and Super Metroid. The game has players navigating the hero, astro-miner John Rochard, through small sections of a large overworld in a quest to defeat the space pirates, rescue his missing crew, and discover the mystery of an alien artifact. You defeat enemies and overcome obstacles using a variety of miner tools, and as you progress you find new upgrades along the way that allow you to reach new areas of the map and progress in the story.
While these aspects are all familiar and, from what I’ve seen so far, well done, Rochard also brings a few new toys to the party, most notably the G-Lifter, which is Rochard’s main tool. This item is pretty much exactly like the gravity gun in Half-Life 2, allowing you to lift, move, and toss heavy objects, a mechanic that can be used to solve puzzles as well as in combat.
Another element that seeks to set this game apart from its predecessors is the ability to raise or lower the gravity level at will, allowing you to jump higher or throw boxes further as needed. There are also four different kinds of force fields, each of which repels different things (blue force fields, for instance, block inanimate objects but allow people to pass through, whereas red force fields do the opposite). All of these things should provide a great basis for a large variety of puzzle and platforming goodness.
If all of these gameplay mechanics that have been set into motion are used to their full potential, Rochard should make a worthy addition to its genre. What I’ve seen so far has me interested in how it will all flesh out, and has definitely put Rochard on my list of PSN games to keep an eye on.
